Flooded is a riotous political, absurdist comedy that pits the dregs of Australian politics against a rising tide. It confronts our complicity in how we enable policies that destroy our humanity and also addresses the fragility of the colonial stories we as a nation cling to. In a dystopic parallel Australia, Canberra is underwater and there isn't any decent beer left. It's a problem only the PM can save us from - but just what does the PM want with the water, just how far have these politicians sent us up the proverbial. A satirical take on the Climate Crisis spliced with the consequences of Conservatism. It's a cracker!

Flooded. (the Zoom Reading/Workshop)Flooded had a zoom workshop reading across two weekends in May 2020. This was facilitated by Jules Orcullo and included performers based in the UK and in Australia.

Flooded. (The R&D)Developing Flooded (The Short) into a full length pieces started with a Month of Making residency at Space Clarence Mews in 2018.
This involved improv, devising and character and world building exercises with performers. It included a performance sharing of scenes - which tested the relationship and involvement/ complicity of the audience with the action. and a full outline of the full piece to be written. Working collaboratively with the group on this at such an early stage in development ensured the ensemble scope of Flooded was big, bold and fully able to embrace giant jellyfish. |
