Our Research and Development period continued with a mini residency at the Norwich Puppet Theatre 18th-19th September. With just a day and a half of rehearsal and reworking we continued our process, ending with a succesful scratch and audiene Q&A.
Our Cast: Past - Julia Korning Present - Harriet Hare Future - Charlotte Lawson
It was great to see how much the show developed in such a short period of time, especially the changes that came as a direct response to our HATCH feedback.
Our thanks go to NPT for their support of the project, the Octagon was a great space to play in and we filled it with an engaged and responsive audience who really helped with there thoughts on the project "as is" and "where to go next."
The physical and visual sequences expanded and the music were updated - with a particular emphasis on how the Fates "worked" with the wool.
Ariadne's Wool - The Minotaur Myth
The framing of 'The Minotaur Myth' shifted, with new text introducing the context and characters - hopefully to provide enough context for those unfamiliar with the tale - it also lead to some nice character developments in the Fates themselves, with them enjoying the gruesome details of the story and the horror of what was to come in the myth.
We had a really great time in the space exploring and playing with what we had already and feeling it change into something more developed - as you can see, so did Present, Future and Past (most of the time)!
It was lovely to be working in the theatre alongside Garlic Theatre in the main space and Beauty and Beast in the workshop - a truly dynamic environment for exploration - the air was really buzzing with new work being made!
We look forward to working with NPT again in the future as Fated progresses into a full show.
